Do Tottenham now have a better team than Arsenal?

Tottenham host Arsenal at White Hart Lane in the Premier League tomorrow and the home side are in buoyant mood.

Spurs made a poor start to the season with heavy defeats against Manchester United and Manchester City.

However they are now six games unbeaten in all competitions and look to be favourites for this derby clash.

Strong

Just like most local derby games this is usually a tight encounter. Arsenal however have had slightly the better of the games between the two sides in recent years. Tottenham currently look by far the stronger team though.

Additions

A key to Tottenham’s recent resurgence was the signings of midfielder Scott Parker and former-Gunner Emmanuel Adebayor. The pair have settled into the Tottenham team instantly and they look a far stronger team since the duo arrived.

Adebayor is famous for making really blistering starts at new clubs. He did at City, he did at Real Madrid and now at Tottenham. He seems back to his best both physically and mentally.

Scott Parker is a tried and tested Premier League. He’s probably the sort of player that Arsenal could have done with this summer to strengthen their midfield. The kind of robust midfield general capable of winning the ball back into of the back four so that the creative players can play.

Eleven

I think there is probably a debate like this in every city when a derby match comes around. How many of the opposition would get into your team. If you were to make a team of eleven players from both clubs worryingly for Arsenal there would be more Spurs players than Arsenal players.

Tottenham fans really do now believe that their starting eleven is stronger than the Gunners and at the moment its really hard to argue with them.

Rare

I doubt there has been many times in recent years that Tottenham fans could have put their hand on their heart and said that they believed they had a better team than Arsenal. However I really do think they are realistic in their claim.

Few

There are very few current fit Arsenal players that would get into the Spurs team. At the moment the only one I can think of is striker Robin Van Persie. If Jack Wilshere was fit he would maybe make the team but its worrying times for Gunners fans.

Far

It shows how far Arsenal have fallen and how far Tottenham have progress that the two clubs are now almost on a level playing field. Arsenal fans until recently had been accustomed to challenging for trophies and now they have a fight on their hands just to get one of the Champions League spots this season.

Form

Arsenal come into this derby on the back of three consecutive victories. The Gunners fans should be in better heart than what they were a few weeks ago. From what I have read though they are not relishing this encounter.

However there is hope for the Gunners though as form does go out of the window in derbies. So Arsenal fans shouldn’t be too gloomy.

Goals

These games are always tight affairs like most derby matches. There has been lots of goals in recent North London derbies and hopefully tomorrows game won’t be any different. There has been some real classics in this fixture and tomorrows game has the potential to be another one.

As a neutral Tottenham vs. Arsenal has always been one of my favourite games to watch. This encounter always has a typical derby day passion and drama about it.

Win

Looking at the two teams on paper there is only one winner for me and that’s the home side. However as we all know the game is played on grass and not paper and Arsenal won’t be easy to beat.

For the beleaguered Arsenal team this is the game where they need to stand up and be counted and produce something their fans can be proud of. The question is are the current Arsenal team capable of stepping up a level though?
