We might be getting a new “soap opera” this year. It looks like Gianluigi Donnarumma is not interested in staying for much longer at AC Milan and if the past is anything to go by, this could get drawn out once again.
According to Marca, Donnarumma has turned down a contact extension offered by his club and that might be a surprise when we factor in a couple of things. First of all, Milan’s start to the season has been abysmal and after the first six rounds, Rosonerri are sitting in 16th place, hovering over relegation places.
The other reason could be that with Milan’s terrible situation these days, they might not be able to fulfil the requirements Donnarumma and his agent Mino Raiola will have. Reportedly, Milan offered the player a deal worth €6 million per season, but that offer is apparently deemed unacceptable. His current contract expires in June 2021.
