The last time these two sides negotiated, we had a real saga. Hopefully, that will not be the case this time around. According to Calciomercato, AC Milan are set to open negotiations with Gianluigi Donnarumma over a contract extension.
The talented goalkeeper has a contract with the club that ends on 30 June 2021 and now he is wanted by several of the best European clubs. With him staying at Milan until the end of the 2019-20, he will be expected to enter his final year of the contract, which would put Milan in a weaker bargaining position. That is what they want to avoid and the talks between the two sides will start soon.
Milan are determined to hold on to him and will open talks over a new deal, but it is not expected to be an easy deal as the 20-year-old has previously come close to leaving the club, with his agent Mino Raiola leading that charge.
