MK Dons produced the upset of the English League Cup second round on Tuesday with a 4-3 victory over Premier League Blackpool.
Sam Baldock gave the League One side a first-minute lead before an extraordinary burst of four goals in six minutes at the start of the second half.
Brett Ormerod levelled in the 52nd minute, before Jermaine Easter (55 and 57) gave the hosts a 3-1 lead.
Ludovic Sylvestre, the only Blackpool player to start both this game and Saturday’s league defeat at Arsenal, pulled a goal back and Charlie Adam took the game to extra-time with an 82nd-minute penalty.
However, Lewis Guy’s 110th-minute goal gave the Dons, two divisions below Blackpool, victory.
Wigan beaten 4-0 and 6-0 by Blackpool and Chelsea respectively in the Premier League, eased the pressure on manager Roberto Martinez with a 3-0 win away to Hartlepool.
Sam Collins’ early own goal at Victoria Park helped Wigan settle before goals inside the last 14 minutes from Jordi Gomez and substitute Victor Moses sealed victory.
Blackburn’s on-loan Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf scored a hat-trick in the 3-1 defeat of Norwich.
The Senegal international headed the opener in the 29th minute, stabbed home his second 11 minutes from time and then nodded in a third.
Premier League duo West Ham and Wolves left it late to win their matches against fourth tier League Two opposition.
Scott Parker’s 90th-minute goal gave West Ham victory over Oxford, while Richard Stearman’s effort at the end of extra-time saw Wolves to a 2-1 win over Southend.
Pablo Ibanez (29) and substitute Chris Wood (90) scored for West Brom in their 2-0 win at Leyton Orient, while two first-half goals from Darren Bent saw Sunderland defeat Colchester.
Bolton beat Southampton courtesy of Ivan Klasnic’s 31st-minute goal, while Jonathan Walters and Tuncay netted before half-time in Stoke’s 2-1 defeat of Shrewsbury.
Elsewhere, Portsmouth saw off Crystal Palace in a penalty shoot-out 4-3 after the teams ended extra-time all square at 1-1 at Fratton Park.
Richard Hughes struck the winning goal with Pompey’s second sudden-death spot-kick after Julian Speroni had saved from Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Barrett.
David Nugent put Portsmouth ahead just before the hour-mark but Ibrahima Sonko’s own goal with nine minutes remaining sent the tie into extra-time.
