“The next player who wants to make a fuss or go on strike, we’ll just let them stew’.
Those are the words of Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke, who has laid down the law in regards to the future of the club. This comes in the aftermath of Ousmane Dembele and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaving the club, both of whom ‘held up’ the club in one way or another.
Dortmund are currently enjoying a successful season at the top of the Bundesliga table, but in recent years they’ve fallen victim to their biggest stars wanting to go elsewhere.
Now, though, they certainly appear to be turning a corner, as they attempt to become a powerhouse within European football once again. Dembele went on to have tough times with Barcelona, whereas Aubameyang made the jump over to the Premier League with Arsenal.
In the future, it’ll be interesting to see whether or not either player returns to the club.
