Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed that the club plan to invest considerable funds into the playing squad in the summer transfer window.
The Millionaires have failed to defend Bundesliga and DFB Pokal titles this season, although they are still going strong in UEFA Champions League.
They have a good chance of reaching the quarter-finals after holding Shakhtar Donetsk to a 2-2 draw in the first leg.
With star striker Robert Lewandowski expected to leave the club at the end of the current campaign, Borussia aim to spend heavily in the summer transfer window.
“In the summer will invest considerably, in terms of (improving) the strength as well as the depth”, Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told German TV station Sport 1.
“We will have money to spend and a lot will happen.”
Another Champions League qualification looks on the cards, with BVB currently 8 points clear of fifth-placed Freiburg, which should ensure there is enough money in the budget for new signings.
Signing a replacement for Lewandowski is obviously a priority, while the Millionaires are also expected to sign at least one new defender.
