German publication Bild (via AS) claim Borussia Dortmund are confident of keeping the services of Achraf Hakimi, currently on loan from Real Madrid, past this summer.
The right-back signed a new deal with Los Blancos keeping him on their books until 2022 ahead of his arrival to the Signald Iduna Park last year and it has been reported that his parent club would probably want him back when the loan expires. However, it seems he hasn’t spoken to Real since and coach Zinedine Zidane isn’t that keen on his return, preferring to keep Dani Carvajal on his defensive flank, which gives the Bundesliga side hope that they may be allowed to turn the temporary deal into a permanent one.
It is also believed that the current situation in Spain caused by the Covid-19 makes it practically impossible for Spanish clubs to plan their squads for next season at the moment, which could work in Dortmund’s favor in this particular matter.
Hakimi has so far made 37 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions, scoring seven times and laying on 10 assists.
