Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have confirmed star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan could be leaving the club in the near future.
The Millionaires look set to stay without Robert Lewandowski at the end of the season, but they were hoping other star players would remain at Signal-Iduna Park.
And while BVB chief Hans-Joachim Watzke is confident most star men will stay, he has admitted that Ilkay Gundogan’s long-term future is in doubt.
“Only in the case of Ilkay Gundogan we do not yet know how it will turn out,” Watzke confessed to Sport Bild. “We would love to extend with him.”
The problem is that the Germany international has a contract until June 2015 at Signal-Iduna Park and he does not seem to keen on signing a new deal.
With the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United showing interest in his services, the 23-year-old might decide to leave BVB for greener pastures.
Borussia Dortmund returned to winning ways as they overcome serious selection problems to defeat Mainz last weekend, with the Millionaires 8/15 favourites to see off Bayer Leverkusen as well.
