Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke appears to have dropped a hint about a possible sale of one of their stars in the near future.
Manchester United tried hard to sign Jadon Sancho from Dortmund over the summer, tabling several bids which all fell short of the Bundesliga club’s asking price of €120 million. However, the Bundesliga club held their ground and ruled out the deal completely after August 10th, not wanting to allow anything to affect the team’s preparations for the start of the season, and the winger stayed put.
However, talking to Sport Bild recently, Watzke spoke about the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Dortmund’s financial abilities, and pointed out that the situation isn’t much different for the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Barcelona. He also expressed a belief that there would be a point where things would come to the limit of what the people in charge can be answerable for, and added that transfers will be a part of the club’s policy.
