Dortmund eye Keita as Bellingham replacement

Borussia Dortmund appear aware that it will be extremely difficult for them to keep hold of Jude Bellingham next summer, given the strong interest reportedly coming from giants such as Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea. They’re believed to have set the price for the 19-year-old midfielder as high as €150 million, but according to Bild, they are preparing for his departure anyway.

One of the options they’re currently considering for such an eventuality is Liverpool’s Naby Keita.

The 27-year-old Guinea international, who is currently out of action through a hamstring problem, is set to run out of contract at Anfield, and it has been recently reported that he isn’t happy with his status at the club. Agreeing a new deal might prove difficult in such circumstances, and he could end up being the biggest transfer mistake for the Merseysiders since Jurgen Klopp took over as the manager in 2015.

Keita joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig, so the Bundesliga wouldn’t be a strange place for him. Liverpool paid €60 million for his services, agreeing the transfer which eventually took place in 2018, a year early. Injuries have completely hampered his ability to make significant impact with the 19-time English champions, and in all competitions, he’s only made 117 appearances in all competitions in their shirt, scoring 11 goals and producing seven assists.
