Dortmund eyeing La Masia graduate

Borussia Dortmund are being linked with a surprise bid for Benfica full-back Alex Grimaldo, A Bola can reveal.

The talented footballer only joined the Eagles few months ago as he arrived in a €1.5 million deal from Barcelona, but he has since made just two league appearances.

Nevertheless, the youngster remains in high regard among top European clubs, and the latest reports suggest that Borussia Dortmund are interested in his services.

The Millionaires have informed Benfica that they want to sign the player on a season-long loan with an option to buy, as they want Grimaldo to challenge Marcel Schmelzer for a starting berth.

The Eagles appear very interested in such an arrangement seeing that they will either secure a nice profit on his sale or get the player back richer for Bundesliga experience.

Not so long ago, Ajelandro Grimaldo was widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the famous La Masia academy, but he rejected a new contract offer and instead opted to join Benfica.
