German daily newspaper Bild understands that Borussia Dortmund are stepping up their efforts to sign a new central defender in January.
After both Neven Subotic and Mats Hummels picked up serious injuries, the Millionaires drafted in free agent Manuel Friedrich, but they aim to add another stopper in the January transfer window.
According to Bild, Steaua defender Florin Gardos is one of the first names on their hit-list.
And while BVB boss Jurgen Klopp was recently in Romania to watch Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou in the World Cup qualifying play-off against Greece, he also used the opportunity to make a check on Gardos.
Meanwhile, the Millionaires are also looking at Hellas Verona defender Matteo Bianchetti, who is the captain of Italy Under-21 side.
Borussia Dortmund seriously damaged their Bundesliga title hopes with yesterday’s 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich, which has seen the odds on BVB to lift the league trophy drift to 10/1.
