Borussia Dortmund are monitoring the form of Odsonne Edouard of Celtic, and they will continue to do so throughout the season with a view of making a decision on a potential swoop next summer, according to Sky Sports who quote their German branch.
The 21-year-old Frenchman started out at Paris Saint-Germain, but he only managed to gather 15 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions’ B side, before moving to Toulouse on loan in 2016. A year later, he made another temporary switch but this time to Celtic, and the move was made permanent in 2018 for a reported fee of £9 million. Last season, he netted 23 goals in 52 games in all competitions, an impressive feat for such a young forward. He started this term in a similar fashion, with eight strikes in 13 matches so far.
Dortmund already have a formidable range of attacking players, having signed the likes of Jadon Sancho and Paco Alcacer last year, as well as Thorgan Hazard and Julian Brandt this summer. Marco Reus and Mario Gotze are still there too. Whether it’s their intention to boost the competition further with Edouard or perhaps safeguard against a potential departure remains to be seen.
