German media outlet Sport Bild is reporting that Borussia Dortmund were made aware that Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic was available for sale.
The Millionaires are set to offload strikers Ciro Immobile and Adrian Ramos, meaning they are in the market for a new centre forward, especially since new coach Thomas Tuchel plans to use star player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the right wing.
After their main target Kevin Volland surprisingly signed a new deal with Hoffenheim, Borussia officials were forced to turn their attention elsewhere.
Sport Bild has learned that Borussia Dortmund have a chance to sign former Bayern hotshot Mario Mandzukic, but the Croatian striker is too expensive for them at the moment, given that his arrival would cost around €40 million.
The Millionaires will have their scouts present at the upcoming Under-21 European Championships in Czech Republic, where a number of Europe’s most talented forwards will be on display.
