Borussia Dortmund have rejected an informal bid from Chelsea for the services of Erling Haaland, according to Sky Sports.
Apparently, the offer made by the London Blues was of a player-plus-cash type, with the Bundesliga side given a choice between Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi to be included in the proposed deal. Dortmund turned it down without a second’s thought, being completely set on keeping the 20-year-old Norwegian for themselves for the upcoming season, despite his release clause of €75 million kicking in next summer.
Haaland remains Chelsea’s primary attacking target, but the task of acquiring his services is likely to prove impossible. Dortmund have made it perfectly clear that they have no intention of selling their main source of goals unless a ‘crazy’ offer arrives, and the one made by Chelsea obviously didn’t qualify as such.
Apart from Chelsea, Haaland has been closely considered by Real Madrid and Manchester United, but the demand of agent Mino Raiola, €40m for himself as part of any deal involving Haaland, makes a move even less likely to happen.
Haaland has already reported for pre-season with Dortmund.
