Borussia Dortmund have exercised their option to sign Paco Alcacer from Barcelona on a permanent deal, the La Liga champions have confirmed.
The striker joined Dortmund last summer, having chosen not to wait for a chance at Barcelona but rather to leave in pursuit of game-time, and his performances for the current Bundesliga leaders have been nothing short of sensational. With 12 striker in 14 appearances, he’s a joint-top goalscorer in the league, a feat made even more remarkable by the fact that he has started only six games.
The fee that Barcelona are set to receive for his services could reach up to €28 million, as stated by the Catalan club, with €23 million being a fixed base and a further €5 million representing potential add-ons, and they will also claim 5% of a fee Dortmund get should they at any point decide to sell him on.
Barcelona also took the opportunity to publicly express their gratitude to Alcacer for his commitment and dedication while at Camp Nou, and to wish him luck in the future.
