Dortmund win race for Mkhitaryan

Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to Sport Bild.

The Armenia international was believed to be on the verge of joining Liverpool, but it seems the Millionaires have won the race for the player’s signature.

Sport Bild reports that Shakhtar have accepted an offer of €25 million, with the deal set to be wrapped up in the coming days.

Mkhitaryan arrives at Signal Iduna Park as a replacement for Mario Gotze, who left BVB to join fierce rivals Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old is club’s third signing of the transfer window, following the captures of Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has spent last four years at Shakhtar, having joined the club from Pyunik, but he has been especially impressive last season.

The highly rated footballer managed to score no less than 25 goals in 29 league matches despite being used as an attacking midfielder.
