Dossena finally a Liverpool player

Setanta Sports has reported that Andrea Dossena is now officially a Liverpool player. It widely publicized over the last month that the Premiership giants were to sign Dossena for around £7m, however no official word was released until now.

Dossena, becomes Liverpool’s first-ever Italian signing. The 26 year-old, who has won one cap for Italy, had an excellent season for Udinese helping them club qualify for the UEFA Cup. Juventus had also shown some interest but the chance to play in the Premiership is what allegedly lured the player to Anfield.

Dossena was quoted as saying a few weeks ago, “Liverpool are a great team,”. “I want to play Champions League football, the Reds have already won it and they often get to the big games. In England, they are on the same level as Manchester United.”

Dossena will replace former left back, Norwegian John Arne Riise, who last month ended his seven year spell on Merseyside by signing for AS Roma.
