AS Roma are considering a summer move on Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Douglas Costa, reports Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Giallorossi will turn to the Brazilian footballer if they fail in their attempt to recruit Juan Manuel Iturbe from Hellas Verona.
Douglas Costa is reportedly eager to leave Ukraine due to ongoing unrest in the country and he will jump at the opportunity to move to Stadio Olimpico.
It remains to be seen though whether Roma will be able to reach an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk over a transfer fee.
The 23-year-old joined the Ukrainian giants from Gremio in January 2010, and has since made 121 league appearances for the club, scoring 25 goals.
Costa was in fine form last term, having managed 7 goals and 14 assists in 39 competitive appearances, helping the Miners win their fifth successive Ukrainian league title.
While making 12 appearances for the Brazil Under-20 side, the youngster has yet to be handed his senior debut for the Seleccao.
