Shakhtar Donetsk star Douglas Costa has invited Premier League leaders Chelsea to make a bid for his services.
The Blues have been linked with a summer swoop for the Brazilian midfielder and it seems they won’t need to persuade the player to join.
Namely, Douglas Costa is clearly flattered by the reported interest from Chelsea and has made it clear he is ready to leave Shakhtar for a new challenge.
“I’m tired of playing in the same league. It’s time to change something. I want to try myself in a strong team that plays in a strong championship,” Costa was quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror.
“ I want to play for Chelsea not just because my friend Willian plays there, but also because it’s the team coached by a great coach like Mourinho.
“With them I can achieve maximum height. I am now 24, and it is a mistake to try to persuade me to stay.”
Chelsea have been keeping close tabs on the highly rated footballer for quite a while now and they could decide to come forward with an official proposal at the end of the season.
Douglas Costa has spent last five years in Ukraine, having joined Shakhtar from Gremio, and has so far managed 27 goals in 133 league appearances.
The Brazilian also has decent experience of playing in Europe’s elite competition, having amassed 34 Champions League outings.
