The agent of Twente defender Douglas has revealed that Inter are seriously considering a summer bid for his client.
Douglas, 25, has entered the final year of his deal at De Grolsch Veste and he is free to negotiate a Bosman exit in the summer transfer window.
The player, who recently became a Dutch citizen, was on the verge of joining Anzhi in the January transfer window, but his representative claims he rejected the move to Russia in favour of a switch to Inter.
“It’s good to hear that Russian top club such as Anzhi asked for Douglas, but the player wants to play in Serie A,” agent Marcos Paulo Ribeiro told Izvestia.
“When Inter Milan began to show an interest in my client, we decided to delay the transition and wait for the summer transfer window.”
There is every chance that the Neroazzurri waited until the player became an EU citizen before opening talks over his move to Giuseppe Meazza, but it is now only a matter of time before Douglas agrees a summer switch to Inter.
The Brazil-born defender arrived at Twente in 2007 and went on to make 155 Eredivisie appearances for the Tukkers.
