Julian Draxler has revealed how he watches videos of former Schalke team-mate Raul to help him improve his game.
The 19-year-old was the mastermind behind Schalke’s 4-1 rout of Wolfsburg on Saturday, setting up Jefferson Farfan’s goal and scoring twice to take his tally to nine this season.
His performance prompted him to credit his predatory instinct to the former Royal Blues icon.
“Everyone knows I am a huge fan of Raul,” Draxler said. “I admire him very much and spend much of my time watching videos of him.
“I’ve proven to my critics that I’m capable of playing in the position behind the strikers, the way I gave up what could have been my third goal in the 79th minute (to Farfan).
“Perhaps that was my best game for Schalke, but what was more important was we played as a team. Now, we will not hide, even before Borussia Dortmund.”
The latest result propels Jens Keller’s men to sixth in the Bundesliga, as their Ruhr derby date against the German champions beckons next Saturday.
