Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler has added fuel to speculations linking him with a summer move to Santiago Bernabeu by admitting he is flattered by the interest from Madrid.
Los Blancos are rumoured to be preparing a summer bid for the player’s services, with few other European giants also keen.
Schalke are determined to keep hold of their prized asset, but they will have little bargaining chips if they miss out on the Champions League qualification.
The player himself seems ready to quit the Miners and admits that he dreams about playing for Real Madrid.
“I have a contract with Schalke until 2016, but I’m proud that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on me. Madrid are one of the best clubs in the world and it would be a dream to play for them,” Draxler confessed to Marca.
“I have always said that I would like to play in Spain some day. I try to watch Madrid and Barcelona in action each week. I never miss the Clasicos.
“I often speak with Mesut (Ozil) about his life in Madrid. He has told me that he’s very happy at Real.”
Draxler, 19, is widely regarded as one of the most talented midfielders in European football, and it is only a matter of time before he leaves Schalke for a big European club.
He has been in scintillating form this season, bagging 8 goals in 26 Bundesliga fixtures and netting once in 6 Champions League matches.
