Democratic Republic of Congo are on the look out for a new coach after parting company with their French manager Patrice Neveu.

Neveu, 56, was let go at the end of his two year contract after what the country’s football federation judged were negative results.

Under Neveu’s watch DRC failed to qualify for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola, and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

National football federation general secretary Gregoire Babi told AFP: “Patrice Nevuew was informed yesterday (Wednesday) by the Sports Minister that his contract would not be renewed.

“When one hires a coach for specific targets and at the end we didn’t qualify for the Cup of Nations or World Cup then his record can only be negative.”

Neveu commented: “I did everything to try to help the team. For two years I had a clear conscience in assuming my responsibilities but it’s obvious that with the lack of resources to coach the players, to travel, to stage training camps, people can interpret the results as they wish.”

Before the DRC Neveu was national coach of Niger as well as spells in club management in China and Egypt.
