Real Madrid midfielder Royston Drenthe has revealed his desire to return to Feyenoord at the end of the season.
The Dutch winger joined los Blancos from Feyenoord for a fee of €14 million in 2007, but he never quite managed to realize his potential at Santiago Bernabeu.
The player spent last two seasons on loan at Hercules and Everton, but recently returned to Real after the Toffees decided to end his loan spell.
Drenthe doesn’t think he has a future at Santiago Bernabeu and he has expressed his desire to return to Feyenoord.
“I want to do what I like and that’s play football. In addition Rotterdam is my city,” Drenthe told RTV Rijnmond.
”Feyenoord have not called me yet, but of course I would not mind if they did. Maybe I’ll call them myself.”
The Eredivisie side are on the road to return to old glory days and after ensuring Champions League qualification they have been linked with a number of former players.
Chelsea winger Salomon Kalou recently revealed that Dirk Kuyt was also interested in returning to De Kuyp.
Royston Drenthe have shown a lot of promise during his stay at Goodison Park, but his unprofessional behaviour proved a stumbling block to the possibility of making his loan deal permanent.
