La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Napoli hotshot Dries Mertens could leave the club in a cut-price deal in the January window.
The Belgian forward has been in scintillating form this season, bagging 10 goals in 11 league outings, and he is arguably the club’s most important player at the moment.
And while he has another three years left on his contract at Stadio San Paolo, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims said deal contains a €28 million release clause.
This basically means that a top European club could come in for Mertens, with Barcelona and Chelsea reportedly keen, although the Belgian seems quite satisfied at Napoli and is not looking to leave.
Following the bright start to the new Serie A campaign, the Azzurri can be backed at 19/20 to lift the coveted trophy.
