Dries Mertens linked with Premier League move

Italian media outlet Il Mattino has suggested that Napoli forward Dries Mertens has been the subject of interest from English Premier League.

The Belgian winger has been enjoying his most successful season up to date, bagging 23 goals already this term after he was assigned a false nine role.

Mertens is currently in talks over a new deal at Stadio San Paolo, but Il Mattino claims that the player has met with one of the two Manchester clubs yesterday.

It remains to be seen whether there is any truth in those rumours, but it is hardly surprising to see top European clubs casting admiring glances his way.

Mertens opened the scoring for Napoli in the Champions League clash second leg against Real Madrid and missed a chance to make it 2-0 before Sergio Ramos scored two headers to kill off the game and Alvaro Morata made it 3-1.
