Drinkwater’s Burnley future unclear – Dyche

As quoted by Sky Sports, Burnley manager Sean Dyche has revealed that the future of Danny Drinkwater, currently on loan with the Clarets from Chelsea, remains unclear at this point.

The midfielder has played only once since arriving to Turf Moor, in the Capabao Cup defeat at the hands of Sunderland back in August, and he’s been missing the action with an ankle injury since. Dyche says that though he is well acquainted with the player, what he’s done in the past and how he’s been doing in training, it still remains to be seen what the 29-year-old can do in games, especially big games. Until then, no decision on his future will be made, and the main thing now, the manager feels, is to get him back to full fitness.

Last week Dyche said Drinkwater had started training regularly, but he was still lacking match fitness. The former Leicester City man is set to be tested ahead of Burnley’s clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday, and if all goes well, he might be involved in the game.
