Drissa Diakite set for Premier League switch

French daily newspaper L’Equipe has learned that Bastia defender Drissa Diakite is on the radar of several Premier League sides.

The 29-year-old has impressed playing at right-back for les Bleus while he is also capable of acting as a holding midfielder.

And with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season, the experienced defender looks set to leave his current employers for greener pastures in January.

According to L’Equipe, a number of Premier League sides have been watching Diakite this season, with newcomers Burnely reportedly leading the chase.

The Malian played for Djoliba AC and MC Alger in his native Mali before moving to Nice in 2006, while he also enjoyed a year-long spell with Olympiakos ahead of a switch to Bastia in the summer of 2013.

Diakite seems to have done enough to catch the eye of several Premier League clubs and a January switch to England is a realistic possibility.
