Didier Drogba has had a busy few days after telling press that Luiz Felipe Scolari was to blame for Chelsea’s poor form, but the striker believes new manager Guus Hiddink is the one to take the club forward as well as publicly saying he wants a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Drogba hit out at former manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, claiming his managerial methods were to blame for the clubs season so far, according to The Sun.
The Ivorian striker claimed the former Portugal manager tried to split the dressing room at Stamford Bridge by blaming particular players for certain results.
“When Scolari started blaming individuals, then that was bad,” Drogba told The Sun. “To name one player as to blame for what happened in a squad of 24 players is wrong.”
“This is not an individual sport. When you win games, everyone is happy and enjoys it together. But when we lose we have to lose together, too.
“If it makes it easier for some people to make me the scapegoat, then fine. All of us were below form against Manchester United, and, sometimes, maybe the coach chooses to make an example of one player. For that game I was the player blamed.”
However, Drogba is now fully backing Hiddink to lead the Blue’s back to glory and believes the Dutch manager is just what the club need right now.
“Hiddink is just what Chelsea need right now. I think with this coach there are a lot of good things to come.
“If you ask the players if the intensity has increased, then they will tell you how tired they are when they go home. There is no great need for him to come and speak to the players individually.
“We know that we are not in a good position in the league. We have to get better  and we will.â€Â
Drogba also revealed that he wants to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, despite constant reports that the striker is ready to leave the club in the summer.
The hit-man’s deal is up in at the end of next season and recently fell out of favour at the club under Scolari. However, under Hiddink the striker insists he has no plans to leave Chelsea in the near future.
Drogba told The Sun: “I am happy with everyone here and want to be a Chelsea player.
“I want people to stop talking about me going back to Marseille or going to Inter Milan. When Jose Mourinho left I was unhappy but that is past now and I am allowed to change my mind.”
I want to stay until the end of my contract. I love the fans. My family love it here and we want to stay. There have been no talks about extending my deal but there is time for that.”
“I would stay if they offered me a new deal.I know that first I need to show I am still the Didier Drogba this club knows.”
