The Metro are reporting that former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba will announce his next move ‘soon’.
Ever since the Ivory Coast international scored the winning penalty in the Champions League final for Chelsea, there was speculation about his future.
Several Chelsea players urged him to stay, but he decided to go out on a high and move on from Stamford Bridge.
It has then been quite quiet with regards to his future, with the main speculation linking him with a move to Shenhua where former team-mate Nicolas Anelka is player-manager.
Speaking about his future, Drogba didn’t reveal too much, saying: “The next step is going to be an interesting one and I think soon I’m going to announce it. ”
“For now, I’ll just ask you to wait a few moments.”
It is certainly an important move for Drogba. Does he feel like he has one more big challenge in him? Or at 34-years-old is he simply looking to enjoy the rest of his playing days.
There is no doubt that Shanghai is the most likely destination for him, with the massive contract likely to be a key motivation.
Drogba will feel like he deserves another big pay day too after years of good service at Chelsea.
More on this when we get it.
