Chelsea striker Didier Drogba looks set to sign a one-year contract extension with the English Premier League club.
The Ivory Coast international has entered the final 12 months of his current deal, but a new agreement is expected before the start of the new season on August 13.
Drogba is in Thailand with the rest of the squad as they continue their pre-season tour of Asia.
On Saturday he took time out to support an anti-malaria campaign promoting the use of mosquito nets in Bangkok.
It’s a disease the 33-year-old is all too familiar with having contracted it last year.
“Everybody knows that I had malaria last year, this is something that is really killing a lot of people in tropical countries,” Drogba said.
“This is something that we try to fight and the best way today, I think, is to be protected by nets.”
Drogba has already helped fund a 4-million-dollar hospital in his home town of Abidjan.
