Competition: Irish First Division

Market: Drogheda United win and over 3.5 goals

Odds: 2/1 @ Bet 365

Two sides enduring very different levels of success in Ireland’s second-tier, a high-flying Drogheda will welcome Wexford to Hunky Droys Park on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, picking up a 2-1 win over Avondale and securing their spot in the second round of this year’s FAI Cup, Drogheda appears to be a side the have refound their momentum. Still chasing a five-point deficit to Longford and the race for automatic promotion, Pete Mahon’s men are enjoying a four-match unbeaten run and their continued success on home soil will be most impressing many in Drogheda. Including their cup victory last week, Friday’s hosts have won six of their last seven matches at Hunky Droys park, a run that stems all the way back to the 3rd of May.

As for the visitors, while Drogheda might be enjoying a battle at the top of the First Division, Wexford find themselves in a battle at the other end. Still sat five points adrift at the foot of the table and now universally tipped across Ireland for the drop this season, Damian Locke’s side have managed to record just a single victory all season and they also saw their FAI Cup dreams come to an end away in Derry last week. Also shipping five goals in their last two league outings and without a win to their name since the end of April, we’re backing a routine nights work for Drogheda on Friday.
