According to a recent report from Manchester Evening News, Martin Dubravka rejected a move to Manchester United on deadline day.
The report indicates that the Newcastle United shotstopper was eyed up as a potential replacement for Dean Henderson, with the Magpies offering them Dubravka on loan to appease Ralf Rangnick.
Alas, the keeper declined the chance to join United, where he would’ve simply served as back-up to David de Gea – a role Henderson will seemingly continue to occupy until at least the summer transfer window.
The 33-year-old Slovakian clearly wasn’t interested in sitting on the bench and playing second fiddle, instead opting to stick it out with Newcastle. Given the potential for what the North East club could achieve in the next few years, it’s certainly a decision nobody can judge.
United, meanwhile, need to figure out what their plan is moving forward with Henderson, especially after their FA Cup exit.
