(GSM) – A last-gasp goal from David Robertson ended Rangers’ treble hopes as Dundee United scored 1-0 win the replay of the sides’ Scottish Cup quarter-final.
United started well enough with Jon Daly’s shot forcing a save from Allan McGregor after about a minute of play, and the visitors from Glasgow were on the backfoot for much of the opening half.
They should have been guilty of a penalty when Kyle Lafferty handled inside the area, but United’s cries were denied.
Rangers subbed on both Kenny Miller and Nacho Novo in the hopes of snatching a winner, but it was still United in the ascendancy in the second half.
Robertson then saw the ball fall at his feet in close range, and he made no mistake with his shot past McGregor for the late winner in the final minute.
United will now face Raith Rovers in the Cup semis.
