Dunne triggers new QPR deal

Queens Park Rangers defender Richard Dunne has triggered a one-year contract extension at the club, Sky Sports understands.

The 34 year old former Manchester City and Aston Villa centre-back moved to Loftus Road on an initial twelve-month deal last summer, and has since made thirty-seven appearances in all competitions for the London club.

His performances for the Hoops have helped them achieve the joint best defensive record in the Championship so far this season, though they are almost certain to miss out on automatic promotion back to the Premier League as they sit nine points behind second place Burnley with seven games remaining.

Harry Redknapp’s men travel to Dean Court to face Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon as they look to strengthen their hold on a play off place.

They can be backed at a price of 4/1 to win without conceding for what would be the fourteenth time this season.
