Fortuna Dusseldorf face their biggest test of the season so far when Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich travel to the Esprit Arena on Saturday.
Dusseldorf had their unbeaten start to the campaign ended by Mainz last weekend but still sit in seventh spot, just outside the European places.
In their first season back in the Bundesliga, Dusseldorf have exceeded many people’s expectations.
And midfielder Johannes van den Bergh said there will be no inferiority complex when Bayern visit this weekend.
“Bayern Munich have played seven games successfully,” van den Bergh said.
“But we go into this game with the goal of getting the points.
“It will be a tough game but there is no game which is already lost in advance.”
Bayern have won all seven of their Bundesliga games and go into the match as short-priced favourites.
The return of inspirational winger Arjen Robben from injury could also further strengthen last year’s UEFA Champions League runners-up and further increase the task ahead of Dusseldorf.
But striker Ken Ilso said while his team-mates must recognise the threat Bayern provides, his side will not be overwhelmed by the occasion and must rise to the challenge in front of them.
“We have to respect Bayern Munich but of course we can’t respect them too much,” Islo said.
“Everyone knows how strong they are.”
Islo said his side will draw confidence from the security of their home field fortress and hope to become the first side to defeat Bayern in the 2012-13 campaign.
“It is difficult for any team to play here at Esprit Arena,” Islo said.
“So hopefully it will be the same for Bayern.”
