(GSM) – Veendam’s Michael de Leeuw is reportedly being chased by a host of English sides.
The highly rated Dutch forward, who has just finished as top scorer in the Eerste division, has had a prolific season with the second division outfit with 25 goals.
However, Veendam, who are in severe financial trouble, are facing a bankruptcy hearing later this month.
Eredivisie sides Groningen, Utrecht and Heracles are very keen on De Leeuw, but they are not alone.
Championship clubs Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Derby County are all said to be considering bids.
Veendam admit the interest in their star player is big, with managing director Jan Korte saying: “They all show serious interest.”
