Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk believes his side still have plenty of room for improvement in the wake of their 2-0 Euro 2012 away win over Finland.
The Dutch all but booked their ticket for the European Championships following their eighth consecutive win in the qualifying campaign thanks to goals from Kevin Strootman and Luuk de Jong, but van Marwijk feels they were not always focused.
They need just one point from their last two fixtures to secure a spot in Euro 2012 in Poland and the Ukraine.
“I am satisfied with the number of opportunities we created,” he said.
“But our finishing was not good. I think that’s bad. That must be better, because then you decide the match much earlier.”
“This was a game where we have should have won by a difference of five or six but, if one of their chances goes in, it can easily be 1-1. This was not our best game.”
Van Marwijk then went on to discuss the performance of his midfield trio Kevin Strootman, Wesley Sneijder and Mark van Bommel.
“The guys in midfield did a great job today [Tuesday]. Wesley played very well and I’m satisfied with the way Van Bommel and Strootman worked together,” he said.
