Dutch defender set to join Lazio

AZ Alkmaar centre-back Wesley Hoedt is set to join Serie A giants Lazio, according to the Biancocelesti technical director Igli Tare.

The 20-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season and it appears he has agreed to join the Italian giants.

Lazio will attempt to agree a transfer fee and recruit the youngster by the end of the month, but if that does not happen, Hoedt will probably join on a free transfer in June.

The Biancocelesti technical director Igli Tare has moved to confirm they are closing in on the talented defender.

“We still have to strike terms with AZ. If it falls through in this transfer window, he will come in the summer,” Tare told De Telegraaf.

Wesley Hoedt has only recently nailed down a regular starting berth at AFAS Stadion, but he has impressed in the 12 Dutch Eredivisie outings this season.

The youngster seems to have done enough to secure a lucrative move to Lazio, where he will have an opportunity to continue his development.
