The Dutch football association KNVB has reduced the amount of so-called ‘Super Sundays’ for the coming season.
A Super Sunday is a day on which the four best teams all meet each other. This past season, those teams were PSV Eindhoven, Ajax Amsterdam, AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord Rotterdam.
The KNVB began this test last year in an attempt to make the Dutch Eredivisie more attractive, but the clubs involved now want to spread out their top clashes a little more.
Therefore, it has been decided to reduce the amount of Super Sundays from six to just two.
The idea has been struggling to survive the past season, as police strikes forced two Super Sundays to be postponed.
