Competition: Championship
Market: Dwight Gayle to score anytime
Odds: 11/10 @ Bet 365
Looking to close the gap at the top of the Championship, Darren Moore’s Baggies will welcome a struggling Wigan side to The Hawthorns on Boxing Day afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of an empathetic 4-0 win over Rotherham on Saturday, West Brom are now unbeaten in their last seven and are tipped by many to be a leading contender in the playoff race. If the Baggies are to book an immediate return to the Premier League, Darren Moore will be looking for Newcastle loanee Dwight Gayle to carry on what has been a very impressive run of form. The 28-year-old bagged a hat-trick against the Millers last weekend and now has four in his last four. Given Wigan’s struggles of late, Gayle should be confident of extending his recent tally.
With the Royals coming off the back of a very poor showing in their 3-0 loss at home to Birmingham, Paul Cook’s side have now lost their last three matches on the bounce. Also failing to register a single goal in any of those three defeats, Wigan now find themselves sat way down in 19th and now looking over their shoulder. Now losing nine of their last 10 matches away from the DW Stadium and recording just one clean sheet since the end of October, we’re backing another difficult afternoon for the Royals’ defence against the Championship’s leading goalscorers.
Bet: Dwight Gayle 11/10 to score anytime against Wigan in Boxing Day’s Championship matchup @ Bet 365
