Kieron Dyer has signed a new contract at Queens Park Rangers despite playing only once all season for the west London club.
The 33-year-old picked up an injury minutes into QPR’s first game of the season, against Bolton, and failed to make an appearance throughout the rest of the campaign.
The decision to offer Dyer a new one-year deal follows the news of Jamie Mackie extending his deal with the club until 2015, and Clint Hill agreeing a new contract despite interest from Leeds United.
QPR have balanced the books by releasing a number of players, however.
Among those set to leave are Danny Gabbidon, Danny Shittu, Fitz Hall and Patrick Agyemang.
A statement on the club’s website read: “The club would like to thank each and every player for their contribution to QPR during their time here and wish them every success for the future.”
