(GSM) – Dynamo Kyiv and Ajax of Amsterdam held each other to a 1-1 draw in Tuesday’s Champions League play-off encounter.
After a goalless first half at Kyiv’s Valery Lobanovsky stadium, the Ukranian hosts went a men down in the 56th minute as Denis Garmash picked up a second yellow card.
Ajax soon took advantage as Belgian Jan Vertonghen put the Dutch visitors in the lead two minutes later.
However, just another eight minutes later, Oleg Gusev leveled the score to give his team renewed hope for the return leg.
The second leg will be played at Amsterdam’s ArenA stadium on Wednesday, August 25.
