Edin Dzeko reiterated his dream to play for AC Milan on Tuesday, VfL Wolfsburg manager Armin Veh has reacted to his striker’s wish by claiming that the Bosnian international is free to leave the club should a suitable offer be made.
“I recently spoke to Wolfsburg executives about it and they know that I would like a transfer next summer,” Dzeko said. The 23-year-old, who is currently on international duty with Bosnia, was Milan’s No 1 transfer target last summer but Wolfsburg blocked the transfer claiming they didn’t need the money. “I have been a fan of Milan since I was a child, when I watched their games on TV. It’s for that reason that I really hope I can play next season there.”
Veh has revealed now that he will not stand in Dzeko’s way should the opportunity arise for him to further his career, but he insists a buy-out clause must be met before a potential sale can be discussed.
“It is a fact that he is able to leave if there is a club willing to pay the amount agreed in his contract,” Veh told Eurosport.
“This amount of money would put us in the position of being able to find a replacement of a standard comparable to Edin Dzeko’s.”
It’s reported that Dzeko’s transfer fee is set at €30m. According to several Italian media Milan want to offer the disappointing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and an amount of money to Wolfsburg.
