A.S. Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic has revealed his compatriot Edin Dzeko is not delighted with his current situation at the club, Sky Sports understands.
Dzeko, whose current contract at City expires in the summer of 2015, is behind Alvaro Negredo and Sergio Aguero in the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina ace, 27, has tallied seven goals and two assists in 16 appearances, including 11 starts, in all competitions for the Sky Blues this season.
Dzeko, who joined City from VfL Wolfsburg for a fee of €32 million in January 2011, has been the subject of reported interest from Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks.
However, it seems rather unlikely Manuel Pellegrini would be willing to sell Dzeko to another English Premier League side and Jürgen Klopp has previously suggested Dortmund will not make any major signings in the winter transfer window.
Expect the 27-year-old talisman — 10/3 to score at anytime against Bayern Munich on Tuesday — to stay in Manchester until the summer.
When asked if Dzeko could return to Italy in January, Pjanic told Sky Sport Italia: “Will Dzeko transfer to Italy? I’m in contact with him and I know he aspires to play more and feel more important [than now].
“He is a great player and he could do well in Italy but for now he is a City player, even though I don’t know how long he will remain there.”
Roma (11-4-0), currently in second-place in the Serie A table, are targeting UEFA Champions League football in 2014/15.
“We will continue on our road to chase Juventus, a side who are having an incredible season,” added Pjanic.
“Our target is to return to the Champions League, then we’ll see what we can do and what the others, especially Juventus, are capable of.
“But I am certain that we can finish the campaign in the top three.”
Guardiola rubbishes Neuer exit talk
Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has dismissed speculation linking Manuel Neuer with a £40million move to Manchester City.
Neuer, arguably the best goalkeeper in the world, has kept nine clean sheets in 15 Bundesliga matches for the German champions this term.
When asked if the Germany international shot-stopper could leave the Allianz Arena for the Etihad, Guardiola replied: “No chance.”
According to reports, City are looking to add a goalkeeper in January due to the form, or lack thereof, of England No. 1 Joe Hart.
Hart, 26, lost his first-team place to Costel Pantilimon last month, but will start against Bayern on Tuesday.
“For him, it’s a very important game and he must not think about the past, but think about the future,” said Pellegrini.
“I’m absolutely sure and I trust in him.”
