(GSM) – Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko is keen to move to a “big club” and has urged Wolfsburg to let him go. The Bosnia and Herzegovina striker is a reported target for Italian Serie A giants Juventus and Milan, and has long been linked with a move to Manchester City.
The 24-year-old insists that a move away from Wolfsburg appeals to him for professional and not financial reasons.
Dzeko wants to talk to new coach Steve McClaren and general manager Dieter Hoeness in hope that they will allow him to leave for a more prestigious club.
“I hope and think that Wolfsburg will let me go,” Dzeko said in an interview with Kicker.
“Last year I wanted to move and was not allowed to go to Milan. The club told me, if a club which is good for me comes in this year then they will let me go.
“It’s not about money and I don’t feel unhappy in Wolfsburg. But it’s now simply about development. Every player has his goals.”
Hoeness, though, insists Wolfsburg’s star player is going nowhere.
“That he wants to move is nothing new,” said Hoeness. “I can understand him. But the fact is that we are planning for the season with Edin.”
Dzeko finished top of the goal scorers’ chart in the German Bundesliga last season.
