Early goal leads Ghana past Benin

Ghana got off to a good start in the final phase of the African World Cup qualifiers, beating Benin 1-0 thanks to a very early goal.

The first – and as it turned out only goal was scored by Prince Tagoe in the opening minute of the match.

Fans at Kumasi’s Baba Yara Stadium watched as their team, also present at the 2006 World Cup, held on to their narrow lead to top Group 4.

Mali and Sudan, the other two nations in this group, drew 1-1 on Saturday.
