Nottingham Forest star Robert Earnshaw has admitted he almost retired from international football after he found out he had been dropped by Wales via television.

The 27-year-old, who has scored 13 goals in 41 caps for the Dragons, has been called-up for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Finland.

“It crossed my mind to retire. I found out on TV I wasn’t in the squad, I felt I should have been in,” Earnshaw is quoted as saying in The Sun.

“Once it would have been a case of retiring or throwing my toys out of the pram. But I took a long, hard look at it.

“I realised I needed to go away and play and everything else would fall into place. Now I feel almost refreshed and want it even more.”
