Arsenal striker Eduardo Da Silva is being sued for 1.2 million euros (1.8 million dollars) by his wife's uncle over unpaid transfer commission when he joined Arsenal last year.

Zagreb estate agent Miljenko Radivojeciv says Eduardo has failed to honour a “working contract” they both signed in 2003 and which he believes entitles him to commission from any transfer to a foreign club.

The amount Radivojevic says his nephew owes him represents 10 percent of the reported 12 million euro transfer fee when Eduardo moved from Dinamo Zagreb to Arsenal last year.

Legal proceedings were started Monday by the Croat businessman in a Zagreb court, the Hina news agency reported.

Radivojevic has told local press that he also acted as the 25-year-old Brazilian-born player's advisor and represented him in his dealings with sponsors.

He also claims he had agreed to pay Eduardo a monthly salary equal to the income of an average Croatian family for life in the event of Eduardo's career coming to a premature end.

Eduardo for his part has already begun legal proceedings against his relative, accusing him of acting as an “impostor”.

The Gunners' star, currently recovering in Brazil from the horror tackle from Birmingham defender Martin Taylor in February, accepts that the contract with Radivojevic existed, but that it had since been terminated.

Eduardo's lawyer says the player and his wife are extremely concerned about their uncle's decision to go to court.

“They can't understand that someone's trying to take advantage of the transfer, especially someone who has done nothing for them, aside from buying Da Silva a pair of trainers,” said Miroslav Separovic.
